AGCO Power is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of diesel engines. Based in Linnavuori, Finland, the company has been developing and producing engines for 80 years.
AGCO Power has collaborated with JTA Connection for many years. According to ME manager Juha Oksanen, the partnership dates back to the mid-2010s and has evolved significantly over time.
“At first, we built the robot cell mechanics ourselves and used JTA Connection’s programming expertise on an hourly basis. Over the years, the cooperation has expanded into full turnkey solutions where they handle the design, implementation, and commissioning,” Oksanen explains.
Exceptional Expertise in Bin Picking
During the collaboration, JTA Connection has delivered several automation solutions to AGCO Power, including robot cells, washing line part handlings, and automation systems for multifunction turning machines. In recent projects, bin picking technology has played a central role, enabling automatic handling of parts directly from randomly filled pallets.

“Many of our components weigh 10–15 kilograms. When hundreds of them are handled daily, the physical strain on employees is significant. Automation has clearly reduced heavy lifting work,” Oksanen says.

“They already had a highly developed and practically proven bin picking solution. That was an important factor in our decision, and in reality, there were very few credible alternatives available.”

“Their robot programming is highly professional, project management is systematic, and communication runs smoothly. They also have strong in-house product development, which shows in ready-made solutions that truly work in practice.”
The solutions are always designed in close cooperation. AGCO Power defines production needs and space requirements, after which JTA Connection provides detailed technical proposals and implementation plans.
“In practice, we start with a rough vision, and JTA Connection brings in the technical expertise and development ideas. We’ve been very satisfied with their service,” Oksanen concludes.

The cells automate part handling and machining into a seamless integrated process.
Bin picking technology enables the automated handling of heavy components directly from pallets, reducing manual work and improving ergonomics. Individual parts can weigh up to 10–15 kilograms.
The portal robot solution envisioned by JTA Connection enabled a more compact layout than originally planned, saving a significant amount of valuable floor space.
